Project Manager
Job Description:
About the Role:
To manage, execute and oversee all aspects of refrigeration installations, ensuring efficient delivery in line with client requirements, budget constraints, and compliance regulations. The role requires strong coordination, technical understanding, and leadership to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Management
- On site planning, co-ordination and execution of the refrigeration system installations from initiation to completion.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and ensure all approvals are obtained before execution.
- Conduct site inspections and technical assessments prior to and during project execution.
Project Scheduling, Budgeting, and Resource Allocation
- Monitor and manage detailed project timelines.
- Allocate internal resources and coordinate procurement of materials and equipment as required.
- Manage manhours, transport and other costs to stay within budget.
- Identify potential risks and advise senior management of mitigation plans.
Stakeholder and Client Liaison
- Serve as the site point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication with clients, suppliers, internal departments, and subcontractors.
- Conduct project kick-off meetings with site staff and regular status updates with all stakeholders.
Site and Subcontractor Management
- Supervise and support site personnel, ensuring productivity and work quality meet required standards. Conduct detail quality audit, identify and rectify snags.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and enforce contractual obligations.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Enforce adherence to health and safety policies, including conducting risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant refrigeration regulations, environmental standards, and quality controls.
- Lead incident investigations when required and implement corrective actions.
Project Assessment and Reporting
- Monitor and document project progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Conduct post-project reviews to assess outcomes, identify lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide detailed bi -weekly updates on tasks allocated.
Human Capital Development & Communication / Data Management
- Mentor and develop team leaders and project team members.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication to your senior management to whom you report to.
- Maintain clear digital and physical project records for auditing and future reference.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- A relevant trade qualification (Refrigeration Mechanic or Electrical)
- Minimum 3-years' experience in a similar role
- Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to client sites
- Ability to manage the after-hours standby process
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Projects
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
